[The CIVIS Newsroom ](https://civis.eu/sv/the-civis-newsroom) 2. 6 educational programmes on climate, environment & energy to be implemented in 2021 6 educational programmes on climate, environment & energy to be implemented in 2021 ========================================================================================= General 24 november 2020 In May 2020, CIVIS launched its first call for proposals to develop challenge-driven educational activities focused on **climate, environment and energy**, [one of CIVIS’s five focus areas](https://civis.eu/en/discover-civis-alliance/our-work/our-hubs). **Six initiatives were selected** by the HUB 1 Council and approved by the Board of Rectors on 29 September 2020. All activities will be supported by CIVIS Hub Council and be implemented during the academic year 2020-2021. **The first call for CIVIS hub 1 activities:** climate, environment and energy was aimed at **collecting a manifestation of interests** of academics from the 8 member universities **willing to collaborate with other European colleagues** on this societal challenge. Academics were invited to develop activities such as short-term courses and workshops, independent projects (joint thesis work), Erasmus Research traineeships and interdisciplinary education activities with the following requirements: - all projects should involve at least 3 or more universities - be related to CIVIS Hub 1 focus area: climate, environment and energy Despite the pandemic crisis and a tight timeline, **99 projects were submitted for the first call** in July 2020. The CIVIS hub 1 Council analysed the collected initiatives and compiled a list with the contacts of the project coordinators to facilitate the matchmaking process among academics. **Six educational projects** involving at least 3 CIVIS member universities were selected by the Hub council and successfully approved by the Board of Rectors on 29 September 2020. A second call for proposals for CIVIS Hub 1 activities has been launched to encourage the projects which could not meet the three-partner criterion requirement to find third or more partners within CIVIS. ### List of educational activities selected on climate, environment and energy: ##### **Virtual fieldtrips on Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology**. National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Bucharest, Université libre de Bruxelles, Sapienza University of Rome and Stockholm University ##### **Application of the Copernicus satellite.** National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Université libre de Bruxelles, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Stockholm University ##### **International Summer School on Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies**. Aix-Marseille Université, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Sapienza University of Rome and University of Tübingen ##### **Engineering of microorganisms for biofuels.** Aix-Marseille Université, Sapienza University of Rome and University of Tübingen General presentation of each six educational activities will soon be published on the CIVIS website. #### **General information on CIVIS HUBS:** One of CIVIS's main goals is to create a truly European interuniversity campus where students and university staff will enjoy seamless mobility to study, teach, train, work and collaborate in any of the eight CIVIS member universities.
